Terrence Malick announced at the Berlin Film Festival in February that his next project, once Tree of Life was completed, would be “a powerful and moving love story,” or, in simpler terms, “a romantic drama”.

It was also revealed that Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes), Javier Bardem (Eat Pray Love) and Olga Kurylenko (Centurion) were on board, but it seems that, according to The Wrap, Ben Affleck (The Town) will be replacing Bale.

The Wrap, (via the actresses publicist), have also confirmed that Rachel Weisz (The Brothers Bloom) has been added to the cast in an undisclosed role.

Film Nation will finance the film, with production expected to commence as early as October, despite the fact Malick’s Tree of Life has yet to be released.
