Netflix has released the teaser trailer for ‘Ballad of a Small Player,’ an atmospheric and emotionally charged thriller set against the shimmering neon backdrop of Macau.
Directed by Oscar-winner Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) and penned by Rowan Joffe (Before I Go to Sleep), the film is based on Lawrence Osborne’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name. Colin Farrell leads an impressive international cast that includes Fala Chen (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Hong Kong screen legend Deanie Ip (A Simple Life), Alex Jennings, and Tilda Swinton.
The story follows Farrell as a high-stakes British gambler hiding out in Macau under an assumed identity. As his murky past and mounting debts begin to close in on him, he crosses paths with a mysterious woman (Chen) who may offer him a shot at redemption—or deliver him to his downfall.
