To celebrate the anticipated release of Bad Monkey, the new series from writer/creator Bill Lawrence, we had the pleasure of sitting down with him and his cast to find out more about your next big binge.
Bad Monkey tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn) who has been bounced from the Miami Police department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey.
Chatting to Lawrence, Vaughn, Michelle Monaghan, Meredith Hagner (“Eve Stripling”), Charlotte Lawrence (“Caitlin Stripling”), Natalie Martinez (“Dr. Rosa Campesino”) and Ronald Peet (“Neville Stafford”) we chat all things comedy, the unique tone of the show and why it feels like a “departure” for Lawrence after Scrubs, Cougar Town and Ted Lasso; improvising with the king of improv Vaughn; performing in a eclectic ensemble, why the show’s thriller aspect will catch people off guard, their happy places and lots of general merriment and chat.
Vaughn also talks about comedy sequels (Anchorman and Dodgeball turn 20 this year, Wedding Crashers 20 next year) and updates that Dodgeball 2 might be closer than we think…
