There’s been talk of a third Bad Boys movie for years now, but it was finally made official when original stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence agreed to return and Joe Carnahan (The Grey) signed up to direct. However, we now have some good and bad news about the movie.

The good news is that Bad Boys 3 now has a very cool title: “Bad Boys for Life.” Considering the fact that we’re revisiting these characters after so long, that’s a name which makes a lot of sense, and it’s definitely nice to have an official title for the long overdue Sony release.

The bad news? Well, despite originally being scheduled for release on June 2nd, 2017, the studio has now confirmed that Bad Boys for Life has been delayed until January 2nd, 2018.

Is six months really all that big of a deal? It’s definitely a shame, but bear in mind that there was eight years between the release of the first and second instalment, while we’ll have been waiting fifteen years for the third by the time it reaches cinemas. Whether or not the wait will be worth it remains to be seen, but you’d best believe that fan expectations are very high!

We caught up with Bad Boys and Bad Boys 2 Director Michael Bay a while back at the 13 Hours junket who was obviously frustrated that the movie was taking so long to get off the ground saying that by the time it comes out they’ll be ‘Bad Old Guys’. Still the news that the movie now has a release date is somewhat exciting, evening it is still 18 months away.
