A dinner table meant for polite small talk is about to become cinematic chaos. Asa Butterfield (Sex Education), Mark Strong (1917), Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer), Brittany O’Grady (The White Lotus), and Patti Harrison (Together Together) have assembled for the upcoming comedy ‘Happy.’
Described as the worst first meeting with your partner’s parents ever committed to film, the feature blends uncomfortable family dynamics with pitch-black humour. The screenplay comes from Ira Steven Behr (Outlander), while directing duties fall to John Carroll Lynch, whose quietly eccentric debut ‘Lucky’ starred Harry Dean Stanton alongside filmmaker David Lynch.

The official synopsis promises a spectacular social disaster: Welcome to the worst imaginable meeting with your in-laws. A shotgun fired at a birthday cake. A voyeuristic mother. A seductive sister. Way too much booze. Not enough boundaries. Does Myles (Butterfield) get his happy ending?
Production is led by Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady of BCDF Pictures (To Leslie, The Hating Game), joined by Richard Kahan (Lucky) and writer Behr.
