Paramount / Marvel (via IMDb and with a nod to IMPA) have released two new posters for Thor giving us a good look at Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Anthony Hopkins who plays Odin, Thor’s father. Love the poster of Odin!

For those who know nothing about Thor (I was indeed one of you until writing about this movie for the past year!) we also have some nice character descriptions for Thor and Odin too. Both posters are pretty much the same as the international poster & banner that we placed up not too long ago but it’s nice to see them in colour and cut out respectively. I guess we’ll see the Portman Alba posters released in due course too.

Thor is directed by Kenneth Branagh and Chris Hemsworth as the title character alongside Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, Ray Stevenson and Rene Russo.

We can expect to see it in the UK 28th April 2011.

Synopsis: Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior, is sent down to Earth has punishment for reigniting a reckless war. But after a dangerous villain from his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth, the hammer-wielding Thor will learn what it takes to be a true hero in order to save mankind.

ODIN: The king of Asgard and father to Thor and Loki, Odin has spent thousands of years establishing a delicate peace across the Nine Realms. But when Thor takes irresponsible actions that threaten that peace, Odin is forced to make the heartbreaking decision to banish him to earth… with the hope that Thor’s time amidst humanity will teach his son humility and allow him the chance to prove himself a worthy successor to the throne of Asgard.

THOR: Heir to the legendary throne of Asgard, Thor is a brave but restless warrior who longs for glory and the rush of battle. Armed with the mighty hammer Mjolnir, made from the sacred metal Uru and forged in the heart of a dying star, Thor is nearly unstoppable with the weapon in his hands. But when Thor’s father Odin decrees that only a worthy hero may wield Mjolnir, Thor must learn to use its extraordinary power for the good of all the Nine Realms or risk losing it forever.
