The tepid response to Warcraft clearly hasn’t dented Warner Bros.’ confidence in adapting another vast fantasy epic with a niche fan base as their Dungeons and Dragons movie may have found its first star. Based on the role playing game which first appeared in 1974 and has gone on to have a huge following, the adaptation is eyeing Divergent’s Ansel Elgort.

A Young Adult favourite, the actor has also starred in the reboot of Carrie and had his profile raised in a big way when he took on a leading role in the very popular The Fault in Our Stars.

There’s no word on who Elgort might play here, but Dungeons and Dragons could be the movie which takes his career to the next level, especially as it’s bound to be heavy on action and no doubt a potentially massive summer blockbuster for Warner Bros. if handled well.

Vin Diesel has campaigned hard for a role (believe it or not, the Fast and Furious vet is a huge fan), and it’s thought that he’ll likely end up appearing in some form. David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2) wrote this Dungeons and Dragons movie, but it currently has neither a director nor a release date. It seems like it’s starting to come together though.

Dungeons And Dragons is a fantasy adventure centering on a warrior and his band of mystical creatures as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.
