Now news is breaking that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are being brought on board to revise Vanderbilt’s first draft for the inevitable sequel.
Orci and Kurtzman have a number of high profile hits (as well as a few misses) under their belt in recent years and Kurtzman has just completed his first directorial project, People Like Us, which he wrote with his long time collaborator.
Deadline have a quote from producer Matt Tolmach on the new appointment,
Alex and Bob have a unique ability to write great character and spectacular action that makes them pitch perfect for Spider-Man. They’ve been friends of ours for a long time and they have an exciting take on the franchise – we’re thrilled to have them join the Spider-Man family.
Reading between what lines there are here is it possible tat Vanderbilt’s sequel draft was more of the same while Sony are looking for something slightly different for the sequel? Time will tell, but at this point it seems that Kurtzman and Orci are picking up an awful lot of big movies, and will do for some time.
