The New York Times bring news that the Hollywood godfather will play eccentric record producer Phil Spector in an (as yet) untitled biopic. Spector was a huge figure in the US music scene in the 60’s, and famous for creating the “wall of sound” music production technique. His life took a sinister turn in 2003 when he shot and killed actress Lana Clarkson at his home (he’s currently serving a prison sentence of 19 years to life for the murder).
David Mamet is on writing and directing duties, while ‘Jack’ director Barry Levinson will be executive producer.
