The Marvel Cinematic Universe is making its anticipated expansion onto the small screen this year with the premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the new series led by none other than Agent Coulson himself, Clark Gregg.

The first season kicked off in style last night on ABC across the Atlantic, and is to have its UK premiere on Channel 4 this Friday. And with the series now officially on air, Marvel has released a new 90-second preview teasing what’s coming our way this season.

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Gregg is joined by a great cast, led by Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Chloe Bennet, with J. August Richards and Cobie Smulders starring in the pilot.

Joss Whedon is of course behind the new series, creating Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alongside his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. The three wrote the pilot, with Joss Whedon directing, and Jed Whedon, Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell will be serving as showrunners.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be airing on Tuesday nights in the US on ABC, and will be playing here in the UK on Friday nights on Channel 4. For your new look at what’s still to come in the next few weeks and months, here’s the ninety-second preview. Enjoy.
