Good news for Marvel fans as US network ABC has confirmed that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for a third season, an expected renewal despite the fact that ratings have never quite matched its premiere in 2013.

Fans will also be glad to hear that Agent Carter (the World War II set spinoff starring Captain America’s Hayley Atwell) is also set to return for a second run of episodes, but as season one has yet to receive a UK air date, that won’t mean much to those on this side of the pond until it finally finds a channel to be shown on.

ABC are also developing an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff along with an untitled superhero TV show. There’s no word on those just yet as they’re both still in the very early stages of being put together for next year.

In related TV news, the small screen Muppets reboot has also received a series order. For the first time ever, the series will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires—a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages. The first official image from the show has been released, and you can check that out below.
