After giving us one of the funniest films of last year, Horrible Bosses, director Seth Gordon has reteamed with Jason Bateman for Identity Thief, a comedy that sees Bateman going head to head with increasingly rising star Melissa McCarthy.

The film will be coming our way early next year, and now the first character posters of Bateman and McCarthy have debuted over at moviefone and The Huffington Post.

“Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson” … and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.

With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.”

Originally titled ID Theft, the film has Gordon at the helm, directing from a script by Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II).

Starring alongside Bateman and McCarthy will be an excellent supporting cast, headed up by Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Eric Stonestreet, John Cho, Genesis Rodriguez, and TI.

The first trailer is set to hit later today, so be sure to check back to see it; it’s sure to be awesome.

Identity Thief will be released in the US on 8th February, 2013, followed by a 1st March, 2013 release here in the UK. I can’t wait. For now, here are the first two posters, which you can click to enlarge.
