BAFTA has officially unveiled this year’s longlists for the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards, marking the start of the decisive second round of voting. With the longlisting phase now complete, eligible films and performances advance to Round Two, which opens today and will determine the final nominations.
Those nominations will be revealed via a global livestream on Tuesday, 27 January at 12:00 GMT, broadcast from BAFTA’s headquarters at 195 Piccadilly in London. A third and final round of voting will then decide the winners. As ever, BAFTA Film Awards voting unfolds across three stages: Longlisting, Nominations and Winners.
The EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony itself will take place at London’s Southbank Centre, hosted at the Royal Festival Hall. The event will be broadcast as live on BBC One and iPlayer, and hosted by multi-award-winning actor, writer, producer and television presenter Alan Cumming.
Leading the longlists is ‘One Battle After Another,’ which has further cemented its status as the film to beat this awards season. Following the first round of voting across 25 categories, the film emerged with an impressive 16 longlist nods. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the epic and sharply scathing political satire explores U.S. extremism and polarisation, themes that feel increasingly urgent and timely. Alongside expected mentions for Best Film, Director and Adapted Screenplay, the film dominated the performance categories, with Chase Infiniti, Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Benicio Del Toro, and Sean Penn all advancing to Round Two.
Close behind is a competitive cluster of titles. Chloe Zhao’s ‘Hamnet’ and Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ each secured 14 longlist slots, underscoring their strong cross-category support. Josh Safdie’s ‘Marty Supreme’ followed with 13 nods, while Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘Bugonia’ and Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ each earned 12 longlist mentions.
Also featuring prominently on the longlists are ‘Sentimental Value’ and ‘Wicked: For Good,’ both of which remain firmly in the conversation as the awards race intensifies.
