There are a lot of people who believe we are living in a golden age for TV, and it’s hard to argue with them when so many actors who used to be associated only with the big screen are now much happier on the small one. The likes of Breaking Bad, Mad Men, True Detective, and so many more have taken TV to the next level.
However, with so many high quality programming options (don’t get us started on what’s available on online streaming services like Amazon Prime and Netflix), there are some shows which just get lost in the shuffle.
Whether they’re not promoted particularly well, given a terrible time slot, or put on a channel no one tunes into, these TV shows all deserve better, and you watching might just save them from being axed long before their time.
So, here are just ten examples of those you should be looking at each week, but probably aren’t…
10. The Americans
The Americans has been a hit with critics, but like many of the TV shows listed here, it doesn’t have the audience it arguably deserves despite that fact. Starring Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, the series is currently in its third season, and explores a genuinely very interesting corner of the 1980s Cold War.
Created by a former CIA agent, it focuses on two Soviet agents masquerading as a married couple, with their relationship – which does have an element of love after their years together AND two kids in the mix – being particularly compelling to watch play out.
There’s plenty of action though, and you’ll undoubtedly find yourself struggling to decide whether you should be rooting for the Americans or these undercover spies.
