5. X-Force
For a while, it appeared as if the X-Force movie was moving along nicely, with Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow coming on board to write and possibly direct. For some reason, we’ve heard nothing since then and it appears as X-Men: Days of Future Past may have derailed these plans.
Perhaps Fox feel it’s better to focus on the X-Men rather than this elite squad of mutants who handle the jobs too dirty for the heroic team. X-Force would be a violent and possibly very controversial film, but as the franchise has always been catered more towards adults anyway, the lack of progress on this one becomes all the more baffling.
X-Force could give a number of characters the chance to shine on the big screen who don’t really fit into any of the X-Men movies, and as Fox have talked a lot recently about spin-offs, then prioritising the likes of Gambit over this is nothing short of a huge mistake and a wasted opportunity.
There have been three attempts at making a Punisher movie.
The big problem with your list is that Marvel can’t make half of these movies. Only Sony or Fox can.
Moon Knight. All day.
What wrote off Catwoman and Electra wasn’t that they were female superheroes – it was that they were shit films.
Just look at all the crap comic book movies that were made before things like Blade, Spiderman and X-Men came along. I’m pretty sure that the studios could make a decent comic book film about a female superhero if they actually tried – they just aren’t willing to do that. Apparently it’s much easier to bring a raccoon and talking tree to life than it is to make a woman the lead. 🙂
