7. The Ultimates

Crazy Ant-Man

Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch’s The Ultimates played a big role in inspiring the tone and direction of Joss Whedon’s take on The Avengers, but if the day does come that Marvel reboot this franchise, following the controversial series even more closely could be a smart move.

However, it contained a lot of adult themes: Hank Pym brutally attacking his wife and later being taken down by Captain America, Nick Fury and the US government sending the team to intervene in the Middle East, and the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver having an incestuous relationship are among them, and this would be one very dark and different type of comic book movie.

However, if it were to be handled in the right way, we could be left with an Avengers movie in the same sort of setting and tone as Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. This one is ultimately unlikely to happen for a very long time (if ever), and instead The Ultimates will probably continue to simply inspire just small parts of The Avengers franchise, and that alone is no bad thing.
