Of course, you may be wondering what exactly the point of checking out a Batman series without Batman is, but Gotham appears to be more than just the same old origin story, and the series will put the spotlight on a character who is more often than not relegated to a supporting role.
As we mentioned above, we’ll also get to see the beginnings of many of the Caped Crusader’s future rogues gallery; villains like The Penguin, The Riddler and even The Joker. 10. A New Take On Some Very Familiar Characters
Whether you’re a comic book fan or simply just someone who has enjoyed Batman’s many big or small screen adventures over the years, it’s unlikely that you won’t be at least a little familiar with the majority of characters featured in Gotham. What makes this series particularly appealing to those who fall into either category is the fact that it will explore a period in the lives of Catwoman and James Gordon that we haven’t seen in any previous versions regardless of whether they’re on the page or in live-action. This gives the team working on Gotham a lot of freedom, especially as it won’t have any connections to either The Dark Knight Trilogy (sorry folks, we won’t see Ben McKenzie grow up to be Gary Oldman!) or Zack Snyder’s upcoming take on the Caped Crusader.
