With its release now on the horizon, Deadline are reporting that Marvel have been getting ready for a week’s shooting in Mainland China, with filming beginning on Monday in Beijing.
Part of these new scenes will involve Wang Xueqi, who has just been announced as joining the cast as ‘Dr. Wu’, which is believed to be the same scientist character that Andy Lau had been circling earlier in the year, as that of Chen Lu, the civilian alias of Radioactive Man.
Along with the announcement, a new image and promo image have debuted, giving us a look at Wang alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle in the former and Robert Downey, Jr. in the latter.
“Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”
Starring alongside Downey, Jr., Paltrow, Cheadle, and now Wang will be a brilliant cast, headed up by Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, and Ben Kingsley, with Paul Bettany expected to reprise his role as the voice of JARVIS.
Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) has taken over at the helm in Favreau’s place, directing from a script he co-wrote with rising new talent, Drew Pearce.
Iron Man 3 will be released in 3D on 26th April, 2013 here in the UK, following shortly after in the US on 3rd May. I can’t wait. This is going to be amazing. For now, here are the new images, which you can click through to enlarge.
