Buried in a press release confirming Nicole Kidman’s involvement in the Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Bird of Youth is a piece of information that links Marion Cotillard to the romance drama The Danish Girl, which Kidman herself is starring in.

The extract is as follows:

Her [Nicole Kidman] upcoming film projects include the romance drama The Danish Girl, which once again pairs her with Cotillard, as well as the thriller Trespass opposite Nicolas Cage and the rom-com Just Go With It starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.

The Danish Girl will be directed by Lasse Hallström and focuses on the 1930s-set story of the first ever sex-change patient, Einar Wegener, a male Danish artist whose love affair with his wife — fellow Danish artist Gerda Wegener — and art set him on the path to an eventual male-to-female operation.

Kidman has been cast in the role of the sex-change patient, so that would put Cotillard as the Danish artist Gerda Wegener, if reports turn out to be true.

Expect more details to be confirmed once this film enters production.
