When Suicide Squad was first announced, many fans were left wondering why this fairly obscure group of villains were being given the spotlight. However, with Fury director David Ayer at the helm and an A-List cast which includes the likes of Will Smith and Margot Robbie, it’s not hard to be excited about the movie!

One of the most intriguing additions though was no doubt Oscar winning actor Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker. Little is known about what his take on the iconic villain will involve…until now that is.

According to Latino-Review, this version of The Joker will very much be based on the version from The Dark Knight Returns, the classic Frank Miller storyline which has influenced Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Apparently, “He’s lean & scarred but his suit does have broad shoulders. Joker works out in his cell like an inmate when he is interrogated by Amanda Waller. He’s doing hand stand push ups so it makes sense that Jared Leto said he is putting on weight. He’s definitely not skinny, but in fact more muscular. He has bleached skin not make up.” This all certainly differentiates him from Heath Ledger’s amazing interpretation.

The site also has some other Suicide Squad details, specifically relating to the inclusion of Deathstroke.

This fan-favourite villain (who played a key role in the second season of Arrow) apparently has a breakout part in the movie, taking down the Suicide Squad single handedly when they go after his employers. It sounds like True Blood star Joe Manganiello could be in the running, so stay tuned for updates on that!
