Eddie Redmayne is set to play Newt Scamander in upcoming Harry Potter prequel/spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and now Warner Bros. are looking to find actresses to take on the lead female roles in the movie. J.K. Rowling is writing the first instalment of the planned trilogy, while David Yates will direct.

It’s still far too early to say who will end up being cast, but The Wrap reports that Saoirse Ronan, Dakota Fanning, Lili Simmons and Alison Sudol are up for the role of Queenie, and Kate Upton, Katherine Waterston and Elizabeth Debicki are being eyed to play Queenie’s older sister, Tina. That’s a pretty interesting list!

Ronan and Fanning are names which obviously stand out, but model Kate Upton (who recently embarked on an acting career) taking on a role in a movie as big as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them would obviously be a huge win for her. Some have test deals in place, and Redmayne will apparently read alongside them over the next week. That should mean we’ll hear something concrete later this month.

Set seventy years before the events of the Harry Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released on November 18th, 2016. Which of these actresses would you like to see in the movie?
