Frozen-Olaf-Snowman

With much critical acclaim surrounding Disney’s latest animation Frozen, it was a real pleasure to sit down with the two directors of the picture, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, to discuss the film that is being lauded as one of the finest animations of the past twenty years.

The musical is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, and Buck and Lee tell us of their excitement at finally bringing this tale to the big screen – something Walt Disney himself tried for desperately. They also talk us through the crafting of the brilliantly comic creation Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad), their disappointment at not being involved in the crew’s research trip to Norway, while Lee also discusses the ever increasing prominence of women, not only on the screen, but behind it – as she’s the very first female director behind an animated Disney production.
