With the affecting WW1 drama Testament of Youth hitting screens across the UK this weekend, in the build up to release we had the pleasure of sitting down with the director himself, James Kent.

We discussed the importance of exploring history on screen, the pressures in handling a tale of real people, and how involved Vera Brittain’s family were in the production. Kent also discusses his own inclination to delve into such harrowing subjects on screen, and whether it ever affects him personally.
