As you may have noticed on social media lately, there have been a lot of photos from the set of Ocean’s Eight doing the rounds. That’s understandable given the buzz surrounding the movie, because while the two which followed Ocean’s Eleven didn’t really live up to their predecessor, the fact that this one has an all-star female cast is very exciting indeed.
Among those spotted so far is Homeland and Billions star Damian Lewis, and while there was initially speculation that he might just have a cameo in the Ocean’s Eight, we now know that he will actually be the big bad of the movie which stars Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway.
Apparently, Bullock’s character is the leader of a group of thieves and cons who try to pull off a major heist. Lewis will play Bullock’s ex-lover and the target of the gang’s robbery. No further information has been revealed beyond that, but we know he can do evil well from past roles while also bringing a lot of emotional complexity to the characters he stars as.
Joining the actresses above as part of the aforementioned group of eight are Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson. Gary Ross is directing, and while shooting is currently taking place, Ocean’s Eight isn’t set to be released until JUne 8th, 2018. As a result, don’t expect to see the trailer any time soon!
