Elysium is one of our most anticipated movies of 2013 and for good reason! It comes from Neill Blomkamp who’s the man behind the epic sci-fi movie District 9 which came out in 2009. Four years on, Blomkamp has created another original story in the form of Elysium which combines powerhouse Hollywood actors Matt Damon and Jodie Foster with Brazilian actors Alice Braga and Wagner Moura, Mexican actor Diego Luna and returning in this Blomkamp movie is Sharlto Copley who played Wikus in District 9.
Over the next few days up until the release of the movie on the 21st August, we’ve got interviews with most of the actors and filmmakers listed above who all talk about their love of working with this young upcoming Director. Today we get to hear from the Brazilian contingent in the form of Alice Braga and Wagner Moura. You may well recognise Alice from her work in Predators a few years ago as well as City of God and Wagner appears in his first English-speaking movie but again you may recognise him from the two Elite Squad movies.
In this interview, we discuss what it was that made them want to work with Neill, what it was like working in the slums of Mexico City and what it was like working with the likes of Jodie Foster and Matt Damon. This interview really shows what a diverse range of characters Elysium boasts in both nationality and culture.
