Zendaya has been cast as the voice of Shrek’s daughter, Felicia in the upcoming fifth offering of animation ‘Shrek.’

Zendaya joins the returning cast of Mick Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona and Eddie Murphy as Donkey.

Universal Pictures announced the casting with a short clip on social platforms.

Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon also return to the franchise taking directing duties. Dohrn worked on the second and third ‘Shrek’ movies as a writer and artist and ‘Shrek 4’ as head of story and voice of Rumpelstiltskin. Vernon directed “Shrek 2” and voices Gingerbread Man.

The fifth instalment of the ‘Shrek’ franchise is set to be released in theatres on December 23, 2026, marking 25 years since the original film debuted.

The original film which centres a misunderstood ogre and fairytale characters, was a major success, grossing nearly $500 million globally and winning the first-ever Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The franchise includes three sequels: ‘Shrek 2’ (2004), ‘Shrek the Third’ (2007), and ‘Shrek Forever After’ (2010), as well as the ‘Puss in Boots’ spinoff series.
