Warner Bros. have confirmed that Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will follow 2016’s Batman Vs. Superman with Justice League, a movie which will unite the greatest heroes of the DC Universe similar to Marvel’s The Avengers.

Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman has confirmed that Justice League will be directed by Zack Snyder with Henry Cavill expected to return as Superman, along with Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, who play Batman and Wonder Woman.

Those three will next be seen in Batman Vs. Superman, and Silverman revealed that the movie leads directly into Justice League. Many fans have been speculating about this since it was first revealed that Wonder Woman will be making an appearance in the follow-up to Man of Steel, while an actor was also found for Cyborg a few days ago.

A script is still in development and Warner has not set a release date, though the movie is unlikely to come out before 2018. That could potentially mean it’s released in the same year as The Avengers 3, and one can’t help but wonder whether Justice League will shoot back to back with Batman Vs. Superman.

Shazam, Metal Men, 100 Bullets, and Fables are all also in development, while the studio are said to be “warm” to the idea of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman receiving her own movie in the near future as well.

Various source have since revealed that a 2017 release date for Justice League is “likely”.
