Based on the novella of the same name by Jonathan Ames, the thriller is directed by We Need To Talk About Kevin director Lynne Ramsey and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Ekaterina Samsonov, Alex Manette, John Doman and Judith Roberts.

The film, which received a seven-minute standing ovation at Cannes, has a brutal arthouse tone accompanied with a score from Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood as Phoenix goes on a mission of vengeance for a kidnapped called.

A UK release date has yet to be announced but will be released in France on November 8.
