20th Century Fox has released over 30 brand new images from X-Men: Apocalypse today, and they feature some awesome reveals from 2016’s next big comic book adaptation.
As well as a great look at the cool new costumes which will be worn by the mutant heroes, we get to see plenty of updated CGI, and some key scenes featuring what may or may not be some fairly significant spoilers for the highly anticipated Bryan Singer helmed release.
Here’s the official synopsis for the movie which sheds some light on what else to expect:
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
As well as returning cast members such as Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, X-Men: Apocalypse will also introduce Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Condor, Oscar Isaac, Ben Hardy, Olivia Munn, and a number of others. The movie is currently set to be released on May 27th, 2016.
