Will Ferrell as Anchorman's Ron BurgundyThe first ever feature-length LEGO film is just over a year away from reaching the big screen, and the project is coming along very nicely. Tentatively titled, LEGO: The Piece of Resistance, the film will see Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street) return to the world of animation for what is destined to be an instant classic.

The voice cast has already been stellar for a while, but Deadline are reporting that it’s just got even more awesome, with Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, and Nick Offerman joining the cast.

Chris Pratt, Channing Tatum, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, and Morgan Freeman are all attached alongside them, making for a brilliant line-up to what promises to be a terrific film.

“The plot follows Emmet (Pratt), an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average Lego minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant.”

Ferrell is set to voice Pratt’s primary adversary, President Business; Neeson will be his powerful henchman, Bad Cop; Offerman will be voicing a craggy, swaggering pirate obsessed with getting revenge against President Business; and Brie will be a member of Emmet’s team with a powerful secret.

Lord and Miller will be directing from a script they co-wrote, with a story they wrote alongside Dan and Kevin Hageman (Hotel Transylvania).

LEGO: The Piece of Resistance is slated for a release on 7th February, 2014, with a UK release set for 28th February that year. This is shaping up to be one of the most promising projects in development, and we can’t wait to see the first glimpses from it next year.
