Lionsgate has unveiled the intense new trailer for ‘Wasteman,’ the highly anticipated directorial debut from Cal McMau. Following rave reviews at its World Premiere at TIFF and its UK premiere at the 69th BFI London Film Festival as part of the Thrill Strand, the film promises an uncompromising dive into the harsh realities of prison life.

‘Wasteman’ follows Taylor (David Jonsson), a young man branded a “wasteman” by society, his family, and even fellow inmates. Despite a life surrounded by drugs, parties, gangs, and violence, Taylor has so far avoided trouble—until the arrival of his new cellmate, Dee (Tom Blyth).

Dee, charismatic yet ruthless, takes a shine to Taylor and offers him a chance to reconnect with the son he’s never met, giving him hope for redemption and fatherhood. But nothing in prison comes without a cost. Dee’s ambition to rise as the “top boy” threatens not only Taylor’s chance at early parole but their very survival.
