Warner Bros. Expands It’s Streaming Titles on Facebook Adding Harry Potter

1

I’m sure we’re going to see an awful lot more of this sort of thing happening in the coming months and years and fear not, we won’t report every time a new title is added to the list of Facebook movies that you can stream but this is kind of a big deal.

Back at the beginning of the month, Warner Bros. took the decision to run a trial streaming The Dark Knight on Facebook for . I guess it turns out the trial was successful as Variety are reporting this morning that the studio will be adding more titles to the programme which includes Inception, Yogi Bear, Life As We Know It which will all be charged at to view since they are classed as new releases. Older movies added include the first two Potter movies, Harry Potter and the (Philosopher’s) Sorcerer’s Stone & Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets which will also be and available to watch for 48 hours.

Amazon recently bought the UK’s biggest movie rental service, LoveFilm which is investing heavily in online streaming with US giant Netflix growing ever stronger by the day. Online streaming is no doubt the way we’ll be watching movies in the future but man I’m going to miss the feel of a DVD or Blu-ray in the palm of my hand.

  1. Whilst we’re big fans of online distribution (and beat Warner Bros to the punch by releasing on Facebook before them), the overwhelming response from fans has been that they want a physical DVD/Blu-ray.

I don’t think physical product is going to go away any time soon…
