A few days ago, a list of Warner Bros.’ plans for their DC Comics catalogue of characters was revealed, giving us a pretty good idea of what to expect from them over the next few years.

With the Harry Potter franchise at an end (though there is a spin-off on the way), a couple of recent high profile flops, the uncertainty surrounding Jupiter’s Ascending, and the success of Marvel Studios, it could be that the studio finally realise that they need to utilise these superheroes on the big screen.

Unlike Marvel, Warner Bros. hold the rights to each and every single one of their characters, meaning that they won’t have to go without a number of iconic superheroes.

While the list – which you can check out by clicking here – isn’t 100% confirmed, it comes from a reliable source and we’ll know an awful lot more during next month’s San Diego Comic-Con. Below, we look at 10 ways that these movies will change the future of superhero movies and the ramifications of each release.

10. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s DC Comics Movie Role Finally Revealed?

It looked like The Rock would be reteaming with his Journey to the Centre of the Earth 3D director for a movie focusing on alien assassin Lobo, but with no mention of that movie for a while now, this list may have finally revealed who the wrestler will be playing in the DC Universe.

For years now, Dwayne Johnson has expressed his desire to play the villainous Black Adam, Shazam’s (a child who transforms himself into the magically powered superhero by uttering the word, “Shazam!”) main foe. When this movie was last mentioned, it was said that it would be standalone, but as Shazam was a member of the Justice League in a recent animated movie, could Warner Bros. be rethinking that strategy?

It wouldn’t be surprising if The Rock ended up playing the lead character…
