Netflix has released the official trailer for ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,’ marking the return of Daniel Craig’s suave Southern sleuth Benoit Blanc in what promises to be his most treacherous investigation yet.
Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Rian Johnson, the third instalment of the acclaimed mystery franchise takes Blanc into darker, thornier territory than ever before.
Set in a quiet parish where devotion and deception go hand in hand, the film introduces Josh O’Connor as young priest Jud Duplenticy, newly assigned to assist charismatic firebrand Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, played by Josh Brolin. But unease simmers beneath the surface from the moment Duplenticy arrives—it’s immediately clear that this congregation has secrets to spare.
Wicks presides over a modest but fiercely loyal flock: devout church matriarch Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close); stoic groundskeeper Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church); tightly-wound lawyer Vera Draven, Esq. (Kerry Washington); ambitious political hopeful Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack); town physician Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner); best-selling novelist Lee Ross (Andrew Scott); and gifted concert cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny). Each seems perfectly placed within this small-town community—until one sudden, shocking, and seemingly impossible murder shatters the sanctity of their world.
With no clear suspect and an ever-deepening web of contradictions, local police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) calls in the one man capable of untangling the inexplicable: Benoit Blanc. As the trailer teases, Blanc finds himself caught in a mystery that “defies all logic,” pushing the detective to the very edge of his considerable abilities.
Johnson once again brings together a powerhouse ensemble—Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
