When Vin Diesel announced last month that Marvel had requested a meeting with him, speculation instantly began about what that meeting would be about. And naturally, all eyes turned to Joss Whedon’s The Avengers 2 and 3. And, more specifically, the role of Thanos.

Whilst we still eagerly await confirmation – something I think we may not have for some time yet, if indeed until the film hits in 2015 – Vin Diesel took to Facebook once more last night, having met with Marvel. And though he didn’t drop any names, the old saying that a picture says a thousand words certainly holds true.

Marvel meeting today…

Only the people in the room can tell you what was discussed…

P.s. Thanks to Our page, for pushing to make it happen… you know I get tunnel vision with my work… and after that meeting today… wow!

Diesel is well known for being incredibly active with his fans on Facebook, and we were expecting it to be hard to hold anything back from them when he announced the meeting last month. And, though nothing is of course official, a hint like this is definitely promising. And I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige were in the room with him for that meeting.

Despite many of my friends disagreeing, I remain convinced that, whoever plays him, Thanos will be largely absent from Phase Two, and believe he’ll appear in The Avengers 2, but won’t take centre stage until at least The Avengers 3.

If indeed it is the role of Thanos that Diesel was meeting about, then you can consider me excited. A partnership with the likes of Marvel, Joss Whedon, and Diesel on the upcoming The Avengers sequel/s sounds absolutely awesome. Especially when you take into account that Robert Downey, Jr. has officially signed on for The Avengers 2 and 3.

Seeing Downey, Jr. and Diesel sharing screen time, whether it’s as enemies or friends, if Thanos isn’t the role on the table, would be a dream.

Nothing is official yet, and of course we’ve no idea whether the meeting was indeed about The Avengers sequel/s, and if they were, whether they were about the role of Thanos. But, given the likelihood that Thanos is set to be the Big Bad for Whedon’s sequels, it’s understandable that speculation is abuzz with Diesel circling the role.

The Avengers 2 is set to be released on May 1st, 2015, and here’s to hoping that we’ll have Diesel on board when it lands.
