Viggo Mortensen and Peter Farrelly to re-unite on adaptation of ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War’

Viggo Mortensen has entered into negotiations to reunite with his ‘Green Book’ director Peter Farrelly for a new film based on the novel ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War’.

Reports say that Mortensen would have a supporting role in the movie.

The book by Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue, is based on the true story of Donohue, who left New York in 1967 to track down and share a few beers with his childhood buddies in the Army … while they were fighting in Vietnam.

Scribes Brian Currie and Pete Jones will work alongside Farrelly to pen the script. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Andrew Muscato will serve as producers.

Mortensen was nominated for the Oscar’s best actor award for ‘Green Book’. He went on to make his directorial debut with ‘Falling’ which tells the story of a conservative father who moves from his rural farm to live with his gay son’s family in Los Angeles. He also stars in the film.

Farrelly garnered five Academy Awards for ‘Green Book’, winning three for best picture, best screenplay and best supporting actor for Mahershala Ali. He also directed the TV series ‘Loudermilk’ and 2014’s Dumb and Dumber To.
