Alongside the much-anticipated film of The Hunger Games, Lionsgate will also be releasing another high profile big screen adaptation in 2012: the best-selling video game Dead Island.

A press release from the company announced that they have acquired the rights to the movie of the Xbox, Playstation 3 and PC video game that focuses on a zombie outbreak on a remote island packed with tourists.

The game’s hugely popular trailer, an award winner at Cannes, will be the film’s source of inspiration, focusing on human emotion, family ties and non-linear storytelling rather than the usual genre conventions.

Here’s that trailer, zombie bloodlust occurs so any under 18s please don’t watch a single second of it.
