9. Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy
After Ghost Rider and a very worrying period in which it appeared that he might play the Man of Steel in Tim Burton’s Superman Lives, fans were hoping that Nicolas Cage’s involvement with comic book movies had reached an end. However, he surprised everyone in Matthew Vaughn’s big screen adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. series.
His take on Hit-Girl’s father would differ to the Big Daddy in the comic books, but Cage delivered arguably one of his best performances yet by having the character channel his inner Adam West. It should have never worked, but it did, leaving us with one of the most memorable heroes in one of these movies ever. If only the Ghost Rider sequel could say the same!
