Honeymoon
The first non-found-footage entry into the list is Honeymoon, a film that is better – like most films – if you know nothing when going in. Simply, a couple are on their honeymoon at a lake house has everything slowly descend into chaos.
Rose Leslie (who plays Bea) is a phenomenal talent in this, lending a chemistry to her relationship with Paul (Harry Treadaway) that makes the later part of this film scary. Although its beginning is perhaps clumsy with its soppiness, providing too heavy a counter-balance, the rest of the film patiently creates a tension ready to fracture at any moment.
One scene towards the end is sure to stick with you, making a truly original, shocking horror film where you genuinely care about the characters.
