Revisitations are the new reboots: who do you want see back on your TV?
We all have our favourite TV shows, but regardless of how great they may have been, it’s fair to say that not all of them should return. Right now, everything from 24 to Prison Break and The X-Files are being resurrected, and so we seem to be entering an era of television where everything that was old is new again. Is this a good or bad thing? Time will tell on that front.
24: Live Another Day was ok, but Heroes: Reborn has been a failure, and any one of the shows mentioned here could go either way if they were to be brought back in the near future.
However, the one thing they all have in common is an amazing cast, and that alone is enough for us to want to see these TV shows back on the small screen. These actors being reunited for one more season or episode would be nothing short of incredible, and while some are more likely to happen than others, they all need to at some point in the next few years.
Massively underrated, Deadwood is one of those shows which was cancelled without ever giving fans the satisfaction of a proper resolution. There’s been talk of it coming back ever since then, but as with almost every series mentioned here, the more time passes, the less realistic a prospect that becomes.
HBO seem interested as they said as recently as this month that a movie is in the works, but whether that will ever come to fruition is hard to say. There are so many things which would need to come together for it to work – the cast being free, the right story, etc. – that it would be silly to get your hopes up.
Throw in the fact that it may not make sense for HBO from a financial standpoint, and things aren’t looking good.
