Debuted at Spike TV’s Scream Awards a few days ago the trailer for Mikael Håfström’s next film The Rite has found its way online.
The trailer, which you can see below, is as plain as can be, littered with cliches, with only the reverberating tones of Anthony Hopkins doing anything to draw me into this familiar tale of robes and rituals, with exorcisms and young girls possessed on the menu.
Alice Braga, Ciaran Hinds, Toby Jones and Colin O’Donoghue join Sir Anthony in this merry yarn which is due out in January next year. It’s an impressive cast and my hope is that there’s more to the film than this sneak peek suggests.
