Ann Veal

Ann ‘Annabel’ Veal (not pictured)

Played by: Mae Whitman (& Allesandra Toreson)
Appeared in: 13 episodes
Who is she?: Her?
Why so great?: Okay, so Ann-hog’s not the greatest of characters, that’s as Ann as the nose on Plain’s face, but what earns Bland a place on this list is the comedy that her dating George Michael creates. Michael’s not alone in his bemusement that his son begins dating Egg, and that spawns the single best running joke that Arrested Development ever came up with – no mean feat. The ‘her?’ joke is so good that it eventually becomes embedded in the show to the extent that it’s used to refer to other characters too. Way to Plant, Ann!
Best moment: When Michael accidentally leaves her behind in Mexico.
In her words: “You must teach me, George Michael. You must teach me the ways of the secular flesh.”
In their words: “What, is she funny or something?’”
