A Field In England – 5th July (UK)

Ben Wheatley’s A Field In England has got perhaps the most unique and impressive distribution strategy we’ve ever seen. The film is getting a simultaneous multi-platform release, heading into cinemas on the very same day that it’s released on DVD/Blu-ray, on television, and on VOD.

In the past few years, Wheatley has risen to become one of the best-known directors on our shores, with Kill List and Sightseers marking two of the most well-received British films in the past two years.

Needless to say, we’re looking forward to his return.

Especially when that return is set during the English Civil War, is in black and white, and involves alchemy and magic mushrooms.

Wheatley has assembled a terrific cast, led by Michael Smiley (Kill List) as the alchemist O’Neil, and we’re very excited to see what he’s got in store for us at the end of this week.

With so many different ways you can see the film – in cinemas, on Film4, on DVD/Blu-ray, on VOD, or even aptly in select screenings in a field – you’ve got every opportunity to make sure you see this from our top 10 must-see movies this month.
