Lucy-in-the-Sky-with-Diamonds

7 – Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds – Yellow Submarine (1968)

Though gaining a strong teenage following throughout the 1960’s, it’s no secret that The Beatles went through a phase of using hallucinogenic drugs to stimulate their creativity, so when they brought out Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, presenting it within their animated feature Yellow Submarine, this psychedelic trip is one of their finest visual endeavours, with a plethora of colours and images to make for a music video that – given the surreal lyrics – could only truly be presented in this very way. There’s a nice link in the animation also, in that the lyrics were supposedly based on a drawing that Lennon’s son Julian had done.
