The Critics’ Circle have announced that Tilda Swinton is this year’s recipient of its prestigious Rose Bowl Award for Distinguished Service to the Arts.
A singular cinematic presence, Swinton’s recent work has shown her chameleonic aspect in its fullest bloom, with roles in films from Pedro Almodóvar, Wes Anderson, Guillermo del Toro, David Fincher as well as a fruitful synergy with writer/director Joanna Hogg.
Swinton joins a venerable cohort of others in the performing arts previously awarded the distinction. Included among their number are luminaries such as Sir David Lean, Dame Emma Thompson, Mike Leigh, Dame Judi Dench and Ken Loach.
