Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released this November and Marvel has today released a first look at the movie on the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly. As you can see, it puts the focus on Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Hela (Cate Blanchett). The latter is playing the movie’s villain and looks suitably sinister here.
“She’s been locked away for millennia getting more and more cross, and then, with a mistake, she gets unleashed and she ain’t getting back in that box,” Blanchett tells the site about her role as the movie’s still very mysterious big bad. Comic book fans will obviously know that she rules over an Asgardian version of Hell in those, so perhaps that’s the box!
Thor’s new look is also interesting but considering the fact that the God of Thunder will be entering a gladiatorial arena to battle Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, it definitely makes sense.
This magazine cover barely scratches the surface, though, as you’ll find a whole batch of brand new official images in the gallery below. Those feature Thor: Ragnarok’s colourful sets and costumes along with shots of Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner during a tense exchange with his fellow Avenger.
