Following rumours of a Christmas 2018 airing, and a few short teases in the Beeb’s 2019 preview, we now have our first look at the BBC’s period setting adaptation of The War of the Worlds. The trailer dropped over the weekend, and it gives us a menacing look at both the war and the world it’s coming to.
Eleanor Tomlinson, Rafe Spall, Robert Carlyle and Rupert Graves are set to star in the three-part series, which was adapted for television by Doctor Who’s Peter Harness.
Small screen rumours of a WOTW TV series from the US came to nothing, and though CG tweaking has been blamed for the delay of this latest H. G. Wells adaptation, it is look incredible.
There’s still no release date, but Christmas 2019 may well hold a nasty surprise for us.
