Here’s a link to the whole list, and while many of the usual suspects are present there are a few surprises which is handy if you’re looking to catch up on some great films from last year this is a good place to start.
Mother, Whip It and Four Lions were high on my list and you’ll see those and others well represented on the list and it’s interesting to see how high Kick-Ass and Scott Pilgrim placed, given that the films didn’t do amazingly at the box office but were critically lauded, particularly by the online critics.
At the start of the year I had high hopes for a few of the films I know were coming our way in 2010, but far more enjoyable were the surprises and while 2011 will see the front rows feeling the considerable force from the franchise machine spitting out sequels and remakes I’m hoping there will be many more surprises to come.
It’s a good list (was happy to add the Darkmatters top 10 to it) but Whip It? just didn’t ‘do it’ for me!!
Whip It was a strange one in that I was totally charmed by it from the first scene and it kept on surprising me. It seemed to almost everything right and I had a lot of fun with it.
A couple of people actually came back to me with some strong words about Whip It! Perhaps a bit of a marmite film but I haven’t seen it myself to present my own adjudication. Hopefully in 2011, I can catch up.
Thanks for taking part (Matt, Jon, whoever) and extra thanks go to Jon for putting up a post about it with some kind words. Look forward to having you all on board for the next one.
