Getting its world premiere next month at TIFF, director James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything sees Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones star as Stephen and Jane Hawking in what is sure to be one of the most powerful films of the festival.

Jane Hawking’s own memoir serves as the source material for the film, and with the biographical drama just a few weeks away from its Toronto debut, Focus has launched the first trailer.

While students at Cambridge, Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne, Les Misérables) and Jane (Felicity Jones, The Invisible Woman) fall deeply in love. His earth-shattering diagnosis leads him to embark on his ambitious study of the nature of time with Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, in this moving adaptation of Jane Hawking’s memoir from Academy Award-winning director James Marsh (Man on Wire).

Charlie Cox, Emily Watson, David Thewlis, Simon McBurney, and Maxine Peake complete the leading cast.

Marsh (Man on Wire) is directing from a script written by Anthony McCarten (Death of a Superhero), who adapts Jane Hawking’s book, Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen.

The Theory of Everything will be released in the US on November 7th, ahead of its UK release date on January 2nd..
