Disney+ has revealed the official trailer for its upcoming original drama series ‘The Testaments,’ expanding the chilling world first introduced in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale.’

An evolution of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ the new series is based on ‘The Testaments’ by Margaret Atwood and brings a powerful coming-of-age story set within the oppressive regime of Gilead.

Created for television by showrunner and executive producer Bruce Miller, the drama follows two young women whose lives become intertwined inside one of Gilead’s most formidable institutions.

The series centres on Agnes, a dutiful and deeply pious teenager raised within the strict rules of Gilead, and Daisy, a newcomer and recent convert from beyond its borders. The pair find themselves studying at Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school, where young girls are trained to become obedient future wives in service of the regime.

Under the watchful eye of Aunt Lydia, the academy’s gilded halls hide a brutal system where discipline is enforced with ruthless certainty and every punishment is cloaked in divine justification.

As Agnes and Daisy struggle to understand the world around them, the bond that forms between them begins to unravel the truths of their pasts. Their connection ultimately sparks a chain reaction that could challenge everything Gilead stands for.

The series stars Ann Dowd, Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya and Kira Guloien.
